The Flame of Ancestral Wisdom

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, I had the immense joy and honor of guiding and holding sacred space for a circle of wonderful women — of all ages — including two radiant little souls, only 7 and 11 months old... and my beloved mother, eldest of our group.

It was a moment suspended in time — powerful, simple, and profoundly authentic — just as I cherish them: a space to offer gratitude and reverence for who we are as women, to honor our ancestral lineages, and to bow with humility before all those who, before us, forged the way.

Women’s circles have existed since time immemorial.

They have survived shadows, silences, and separation — but today, they rise again in strength and beauty.

Today, women across the world stand up, remember, and reclaim their rightful place, carrying within them the voices of their foremothers, and holding aloft the sacred flames of memory, healing, and transformation.

Because to be a Woman is to weave a legacy — a legacy made of wisdom passed down through generations, a path cleared for those yet to come, a bridge built between past and future.

To be a Woman is to break the chains and to rewrite the story. It is to plant seeds of hope in the fertile ground of tomorrow. It is to leave traces of courage and grace for others to follow.

We are the daughters of resilience, the mothers of change, and the architects of the future. Our legacy is one of strength, grace, and unstoppable determination.

And one day, when we become ancestors in turn, may we be ancestors of light — ancestors whose memory will guide, protect, and inspire generations to come.

So today, let us walk with pride, with tenderness, and with unwavering purpose. Let us carry within us the memory of those who came before, and the dreams of those yet to be born.

To all women who shape history — yesterday, today, and forever.

To us, Women, Vahine Tumu — now and always.
